The
Friends
of
St
Mary’s
was
formed
in
2004
with
about
20
active
members
who
set
about
raising
funds
for
the
upkeep
of
the
fabric
of
the Church.
We’re
very
proud
of
what
we
have
achieved
since
then
and
very
grateful
to
everyone
who
has
helped
us
over
the
years
but
we
need
new
ideas
and
we
need
new
people
to
bring
fresh
energy
and
perspective
to
the
group.
Further
challenges
await!
This
is
where
you
come in.
There
is
no
pre-requisite
for
membership
of
the
The
Friends,
indeed
there
is
no
membership
as
such,
we
are
just
a
collection
of
people
interested
in
seeing
the
church
maintained
and
preserved
for
future
generations.
The
only
officers
are
a
Chairman
to
call
and
take
charge
of
meetings
as
necessary,
a
Secretary
to
record
the
discussions
at
those
meetings
and
to
handle
any
necessary
admin
and
correspondence,
a
Treasurer
to
take
charge
of
the
purse-strings
and
any
financial
dealing
with
auditors
and
the
Charities
Commission.
We
have
a
Membership
Secretary
only
to
keep
track
of
those
that
have
expressed
an
interest
in
the
work
of
the Friends so that we can keep them informed.
Because
we
are
a
Registered
Charity
we
are
required
to
appoint
Trustees
of
whom
we
currently
have
six,
who
are
responsible
for
seeing
that
all
Friends’
activities
are
done
correctly
and
in
accordance
with
the
rules
regulating
the
conduct of charities.
Will you help?
If
you
would
like
to
be
involved
in
any
way,
to
whatever
extent,
please
download
the
Membership
form
,
complete
and
sign it, then send the last two pages to the Membership Secretary at the address shown on the form.
You
can
use
the
same
form
if
you
would
like
to
help
by
making
a
standing
order
or
direct
debit
to
support
the
work
of
The
Friends.
Many
local
residents
have
kindly
set
up
standing
orders
for
anything
from
a
couple
of
pounds
a
month
upwards. The funds raised in this way form the bed-rock of our fundraising activities.
